You can run your SRT through ChatGPT, but a chat cannot hear your video. It makes sentences nicer instead of more accurate, and sometimes loses timecodes or lines. The AI correction in Subtitle Studio does the opposite: it only fixes clear transcription errors, checks every change against what was heard in the audio, and leaves everything else alone.
AI correction is part of Subtitle Studio Pro. You choose where the AI runs: free and private on your own Mac, or with your own key at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Mistral. The app uses their small models there, so it usually costs a few cents per video. A ChatGPT or Claude subscription does not cover this: such a key is billed separately, per use.
All about Subtitle Studio →Punctuation, capitals, numbers, sentence structure and word choice stay as they are, unless the audio shows a clear error. When in doubt, the AI does nothing.
The AI does not hear the audio itself; it compares with what Whisper heard. If Whisper misheard a word the same way everywhere, the AI cannot know. That is what your glossary is for: add names and terms and they are right every time.
No. With the small models the app uses you usually pay a few cents per video. A ChatGPT or Claude subscription does not count; the key is billed separately. Prefer to pay nothing? Use the local AI on your Mac.
The trial runs the complete Pro workflow. No payment details needed, just your e-mail address, and your video stays on your own Mac. What do you have to lose?
