Protecting WordPress forms from spam without a CAPTCHA

You can stop form spam in WordPress without making visitors solve puzzles. The checks then happen in the background, on your own server. Forms Shield does this for Gravity Forms and Elementor Pro Forms, without reCAPTCHA, tracking cookies or external anti-bot services.

How to go about it

  1. Check on the serverLet the assessment happen on your own server, not at an external service that follows visitors.
  2. Also catch bots that post around the pageSmart bots send forms straight to your site without loading the page. The check has to cover that too, even if your site is cached.
  3. Choose quarantine over rejectionPutting a suspicious submission in quarantine means you never lose a real request.
  4. Store as little as possibleDo not store raw IP addresses. That is better for your visitors' privacy.

Frequently asked questions

Why no CAPTCHA?

A CAPTCHA makes filling in forms harder for your visitors, including people with a disability. Background checks stop spam without asking your visitors anything.

Will I lose real requests?

Not with Forms Shield: suspicious submissions go to quarantine by default, so you can review them.

Which forms does Forms Shield work with?

With Gravity Forms and Elementor Pro Forms.
